The Mosaic logo is not an accident or a neat little graphic chosen to build an identity. The Mosaic was built to represent three meanings.
1. Many times the key to significance is simply putting the pieces of the MOSAIC together. The pieces are already around us, in our own organization or in the marketplace, just waiting to be placed in the mix. When the pieces are held together by a common purpose, they create a beautiful picture.
Bob communicates the message better than I ever could:
…suddenly Mike (Mike Kami, strategic planner) stopped me in midsentence and asked a question that changed my life—“what’s in your box?”
The question took me by surprise. I didn’t get it at first. In the box? What does that mean? So I asked, “What do you mean by that, Mike?”
2. In the MOSAIC you see a vertical and a horizontal line creating an intersection. That intersection represents ideas and strategies developed by people. Those ideas and strategies put into action achieve significant results.
3. Finally, the MOSAIC is a box with a cross in it which represents a powerful life-guiding illustration. That illustration is found in Bob Buford’s book, Finishing Well.
“What’s central to your life at this point?” Mike said. “If there were only room for one thing in your life, what would it be?” He took a pencil and sketched out a small square on a sheet of paper and said, “From what you’re telling me, Bob, there are two things at the top of your list of priorities, your religious faith and your career.” Mike indicated that the shorthand for that was a dollar sign and a cross. And he pointed at the box and said, “Before I can help you decide how to focus your interests, you have to decide: What’s in the box?”
Mosaic Trust is capable of producing results in your organization. Experience in some of the most dynamic and effective publishing and communications companies in the world have provided a solid foundation of transferable knowledge. Using the ideas, strategies and people/relationships he formed while at LifeWay Christian Resources and Integrity Publishers, Mosaic’s purpose is to use his knowledge to increase the effectiveness of Christian organizations and individuals around the world.
Would it be the dollar sign or the cross? Suddenly I knew I had a choice to make.
